Just boric acid won't work since it is not very tasty. Mix it with an equal quantity of sugar ground in a grinder. They love it without knowing, of course, that it's attempted suicide!

I am totally feeling your pain! I moved into a town home in a cheaper part of Maryland. It appeared to be a decent home, I knew it was older and needed some work but I thought it had potential. We had been here a year and a half when all the sudden the few little roaches I saw after of course I closed on the home turned into multitudes of them running around!

I have sprayed like crazy. I have so many cracks and holes i am not even sure if i'll be able to seal them all but I am loosing it real fast! If you find a solution please let me know. One of my sons has asthma and it is very bad for his breathing!!

Last week I spray so much of this chemical called Hot Shot that we all got sick with resparitory issues. I tried the bleach down the drains, and several other things.. let me know how the plug ins do please..

Signed,

Desperate in Maryland!!

auschick,

First, congratulations on your work down in New Orleans! I was down in the Gulf Coast region on a video production shortly after Katrina and it was astonishing to see all of the destruction it left behind. Every bit of help makes a difference to the folks trying to rebuild.

As for my roaches, the thing that freaks me out the most is the thought of them crawling around my daughter's room. She's still not sleeping well since the move (could be the transition, could be teething - at her age it's hard to tell.) Every time she wakes up at night and I go in to check on her, I scan the crib with a little penlight just to make sure there aren't any critters around.

My personal reaction is less intense, but I hope to never become immune. I just want to be effective at getting them out and keeping them out.

The sightings are low again today. My wife reports that the building staff has informed her that 'the cat lady' upstairs is the likely source of the problem. Apparently this unpleasant older woman isn't much of a housekeeper.

It is always surprising the things you learn AFTER you move in.
